£1.5m.
That’s how much we’ve announced today has been raised through campaigns Platinum Live have had the privilege of leading over the last couple of years in Cumbria and across the UK.
It’s a figure we’re incredibly proud of, not because of our role in it, but because of the extraordinary people and organisations behind the campaigns themselves.
Over the years, we’ve worked alongside a number of high-profile fundraising campaigns, providing pro-bono campaign strategy, media relations, content support, celebrity endorsements and broader communications expertise to help project their stories onto the national stage.
One of the most remarkable stories we’ve had the privilege of supporting is that of George and Josh Kohler. The father-and-son duo recently completed a 400-day cycle around the world, travelling through 31 countries, covering more than 30,000km and setting three official world records while raising vital funds for UNICEF.
Working alongside George and Josh, we helped secure coverage across Sky News, CNN, BBC Radio 4, ITV News, Daily Mail, The Mirror and Cycling Weekly, alongside campaign support from Academy Award-winning actress Olivia Colman. The challenge generated an earned media reach of more than 50 million people and captured attention across the globe.
Closer to home, we’ve continued our long-standing work with Cumbrian fundraiser Gary McKee, known nationally as the “Marathon Man”.

We’ve supported Gary’s fundraising campaigns for the last four years, including his extraordinary 365 marathon challenge, which saw him run a marathon every day for a year and raise more than £1 million for Macmillan Cancer Support and Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
More recently, we supported Gary’s latest challenge, completing 100 marathons in 100 consecutive days before finishing at the 2026 London Marathon.

Alongside this, we’ve also worked with our client Invacare on its Move For Mobility campaign, helping raise funds for Free Wheelchair Mission and supporting initiatives that provide mobility equipment to people living with disabilities around the world.
Hayley McKay, Director of Funding & Communications at Hospice at Home West Cumbria, said: “Working with Platinum Live has been fantastic. Their expertise and dedication have really helped shine a light on the incredible fundraising efforts of Gary McKee and his family, allowing us to reach far more people and tell our story in a way we couldn’t have done on our own.
“Fundraising challenges like Gary’s are vital to us, and without that support, we simply wouldn’t be able to provide the care our community relies on.”
Supporting campaigns like these forms an important part of who we are as a business. Every year, we dedicate time and resources to a small number of charitable and community-led initiatives that align with our values.
As our Founder, Oliver Hodgson, explains: “We’ve always believed in using our platform and media relationships to support stories that genuinely matter. Campaigns like Gary’s, George and Josh’s, and the work with Invacare go far beyond publicity. They inspire people, bring communities together and raise life-changing amounts of money for important causes.
“As a business, we take social value and charitable support seriously. Over the last few years, we’ve been fortunate enough to work alongside some incredible people taking on extraordinary challenges, and our role has been helping make sure those stories reach as many people as possible.
“We’re proud to have played a small part in helping raise more than £1.5 million for charities and causes that make a genuine difference.”
